Starting Up With Pristine Blue

Make sure to vacuum and brush the walls. Backwash the filter (you may need to change out your sand).

1. Uncover the pool by draining the excess water off the top of the cover, cleaning the debris off, and carefully removing it. Clean and store cover.

2. Start with a clean pool and functional equipment. Remove leaves, other debris, and vacuum. Check to make sure the pump, heater and other equipment are operational. Clean or backwash filter. Run the filter continuously through this start-up process.

Day 1:

A. Calculate pool volume.
B. Balance water in the following ranges (see below for details on water balance):
Total Alkalinity: 30 to 90 ppm
            pH: 7.2 to 7.6
Calcium hardness: less than 300 ppm
C. Add 2 ounces of PristineCheck for every 1,000 gallons of pool water. Wait 4 to 6     hours.
D. Do a standard chlorine shock using sodium or lithium hypochlorite – calcium     hypochlorite may cause cloudy water. Repeat this shock daily and backwash filter     daily until water is crystal clear before proceeding to the steps for Day 2.

Day 2:

A. Backwash Filter.
B. If you have used PristineBlue in the past, test the PristineBlue level and add     PristineBlue according to the Swimming Pool Dosage Chart below.
C. If you have never used PristineBlue, add 2 ounces of PristineBlue per 1,000 gallons of     pool water.

Important: For the next two weeks, make sure pH is maintained in the range of 7.2 - 7.6. Do not add any more PristineBlue to the pool.
