Baquacil is a non-chlorine system that uses a polymeric sanitizer and is effective against a wide variety of single-celled organisms. Baquacil's active ingredient is extremely stable and so safe, it is used in some saline solutions. Unlike chlorine, Baquacil is not influenced by the sun, temperature, or pH fluctuations, thus it can sustain a pool for 14 days without attention. Such a long maintenance interval is achieved also by minimal consumption patterns and resistance to fluctuation.

Water Balance of Baquacil

  • pH: 7.2 - 7.8
  • Alkalininty: 80-150
  • Calcium Hardess:180-250(vinyl lined) 200-275(plaster pools)
  • Ideal Baquacil Level: 30-50ppm

Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat

The cornerstone of the Baquacil sanitizing system is Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat. Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat's active ingredient is polyiminoiminido-carbonylimino-imidocarbonyl hexamethylene hydrochloride. Try to say that fives times fast! Put simply, it's non-chlorine, biguanide system. It isolates bacteria and renders them inert. However, it does not dispose of the bacteria. The task of ridding your pool of what's left is Baquacil Shock and Oxidizer's job. Biguanide systems tend to gum up filter systems and regular cleaning of the filter is required. However, biguanide systems such as Baquacil or SoftSwim have been highly recommended for ease of use, that is if you use them correctly.

Baquacil Shock and Oxidizer

Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat does a great job of isolating bacteria, but then your left with a bunch of organic material in your water. Baquacil Shock and Oxidizer's job is to burn this organic material out of the water. Baquacil claims that their shock only must be added monthly, using of one gallon of shock per 10,000 gallons of water, but in certain areas in which the climate is extremely hot it may be necessary to shock more often. An alternative to shocking more often is to use, BaquaPlus. It helps increase the Baqua Shock level and maintain it for longer periods of time. You may swim after thirty minutes when adding Baquacil Shock and Oxidizer.

Baquacil Algicides

Killing pool algae is not one of Baquacil Sanitizer and Algistat's strengths, so another chemical is required. Baqucil Algicide should be added once weekly using 1.25oz oz per 10,000 gallons to rid the pool of any un-seen algae that may have gotten into the pool. Baqucil Algicide does a great job of preventing algae in your pool, however if you need to kill it, you will probably want to use something stronger like Baquacil Premium Algicide. Another way to kill algae is with a heavy dose of shock alongside some Baqua Plus to give it the strength it needs to fight off the algae. Do not ever use chlorine to try and kill algae under any circumstances! It will turn your pool any color from lime green to an orange sherbert color.

Baqua Floc

If you have a cloudy pool, and just can't get it clear by adjusting your pH and/or alkalinity, 9 times out of 10 Baqua Floc is the answer to your problem. Baqua Floc is a flocculant. Flocculants bring all the tiny particles in your pool into a larger molecule. Baqua Floc can work in one of two ways depending on how you use it. It can be used as a filter aid, or to drop all the particles to the bottom of the pool so you can vacuum them to waste. If you can see the bottom of the pool it's best to use it as a filter aid. However, if the water is so cloudy you can't see the bottom, using it a flocculant is recommended.
